Iolo Jones

I'm a PhD student in Mathematics at Durham University. I work on geometry and its applications to machine learning and data analysis.

My research is about how classical methods from calculus and geometry, which are ubiquitous in the theoretical modelling and description of scientific phenomena, can be applied directly to real data as statistics. My work on diffusion geometry extends the classical theory and combines it with powerful computational tools to develop a broad family of new methods for data science and machine learning.
